For local SEO, relevance is often tied to place names: cities, neighborhoods, landmarks, and regional terms. The goal is usually to find geo-relevant domains that support local authority, content hubs, or local campaigns.
If you run a local site, your main goal is to find domains that are geographically relevant:
Find expired domains that already ranked for keywords related to your location
Find domains that can support regional backlinks or area clusters
Find domains mentioning a city/region for local relevance
So that you can:
Reclaim aged domains tied to local businesses or communities (carefully)
Build hyperlocal microsites and content hubs
Build backlinks to your existing sites
Redirect local traffic to your new site
Leverage existing geo-authority signals
Strengthen your area presence
To do this, you can use the following strategies:
| Goal | How to achieve it in UpSnatch |
|---|---|
| Find geo-relevant domains neighborhoods, POIs, ... | Use Local Search. You can search for a city or region (e.g., new york city).Local Search will find nearby regions, points of interest, landmarks, parks, museums, attractions, etc. |
| Find specific local entities landmarks & neighborhoods | After results load, use the Tags filter on the left. Tags represent the specific local terms that were found in matching domains. For example, after searching new york, you may be able to filter on tags such as Brooklyn, Manhattan, or major landmarks and attractions. |
| Focus on the right market country & TLDs | Use the Country and Domain Extension (TLD) filters to match your target market. For example, if you only want local ccTLD opportunities, filter to those extensions; if you prefer global names, include .com and other generics. |
| Find safer domains | Set Spam Quality to at least OKAY or GOOD and exclude Adult Content. Then open Wayback from Domain Details to confirm the domain hasn't been repurposed for spam recently and that the historical content makes sense for a local use case. |
| Monitor a location daily | Create a Domain Alert for your location-based query (e.g., new york city or a region + service). You'll receive daily emails with newly available domains that match your local search intent. |
